The extraordinary Prayer of all the Churches
They prayed together to ask above all for the gift of unity, and together they called thousands of other Christians spread all over the world to the prayer, united in a communion of spirit with Jerusalem, thanks to the satellite link by 4 televisions that broadcast the event live.
The second meeting of the “Extraordinary Prayer by all Churches for reconciliation, unity and peace” was held on Saturday 20th February, bringing together Christians of different confessions, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem.
The initiative, promoted by the association of the same name, with the partnership of Catholica Unio (a body of the Vatican that promotes the dialogue between the Eastern and Western churches) is becoming increasingly established as a strong moment of prayer, from and for Jerusalem.
The special ecumenical celebration was held mainly in Arabic, and was presided by the Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jordan and the Holy Land, Rev. Munib Younan.
The third session of the Extraordinary Prayer will be proposed and broadcast live from the Melkite Church of Jerusalem next Saturday 10th April.
But the extraordinary prayer of all the churches continues every Saturday at 6.00 p.m., Holy Land time, when all Christians, wherever they may be, are invited to pray with and for Jerusalem.
